Congratulations to all this year's walkers
Thank you to everyone who took part in the 2014 Saffery Champness Rotary Walk. You have helped to raise a fantastic £35,000 for nine local community projects – the most charity projects ever to be selected in the history of the walk.
At the awards ceremony, hosted by His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor and Mrs Walker at Government House on 30 September, David Mortimer, Chairman of the Walk organising committee, presented cheques to Autism Guernsey, the Cardiac Action Group, CLIC Sargent Guernsey, the Guernsey Bereavement Services, Guernsey Cancer Support, Headway Guernsey, the Guernsey Neurological Concern Society, Trinity Church and the Vale Primary School PTA.
As well as the chosen charities, the committee also recognised the achievements of a number of individual walkers, presenting them with special awards to mark their specific endeavours.
Lily Harris was the youngest walker to complete the route (15) while Ray Pickett won an award for being the oldest walker (77). Sophie Veron won the specific individual achievement award and Kirsty Bryce won the award for the highest level of sponsorship raised.
Nick Batiste, managing director of sponsor Saffery Champness, also presented the first Saffery Selfie award to the GSPCA. Walkers were asked to take selfies as they completed the route and post on the Saffery Champness Rotary Walk's Facebook and Twitter pages. This generated lots of posts and the team at Saffery Champness selected the GSPCA as the ultimate winner.
We are now looking towards our 2015 walk – this will take place on Saturday6 June 2015. Registration will be opening soon. In the meantime should you need more information, please contact email@example.com.
